Old South Pittsburg Hospital home to the Supernatural?

Old South Pittsburg Hospital home to the Supernatural?

It was a long drive, as most are for us, to South Pittsburg, Tenn., which according to the city's website is the "Tidiest Town in Tennessee" and home of the National Cornbread Festival. The reason we were there was to pay a visit to the old South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital.

Spread across two acres in the heart of the city, the 68,000-square foot hospital, founded by four doctors, opened its doors in 1959 and served the surrounding community for nearly 40 years until its closing  in 1998, following the opening of a new hospital in neighboring Jasper, Tenn.

Many members of the community felt the new hospital should also be located in South Pittsburg. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that "the city sued in Marion County Chancery Court to force the manager of its hospital to disclose whether it intends to close the non-profit hospital." Haunted heritage: Spring Villa Mansion investigation results in lots of strange happenings

Haunted heritage: Spring Villa Mansion investigation results in lots of strange happenings

Spring Villa in lee County had a long history of paranormal legends, so we contacted the historical society because of our interest in history. They invited us to come investigate.

People at the location have reported unusual phenomena, such as seeing a little girl, seeing a man in the window of the upstairs of the new building next to Spring Villa, being touched by an unseen entity, hearing footsteps, voices, seeing shadows and experiencing cold spots. A previous investigator recorded an EVP in the master bedroom. Its history includes the legend of the owner's murder and beheading by a servant.

The home originally was used by Penn & Mary Yonge. It was built by Horace King, a freed part African/part Catawba Indian slave who once belonged to John Godwin, Mary Godwin Yonge’s father. Mr. King was one of the most famous bridge builders in the South.

America's Stonehenge: The Georgia Guidestones

We traveled the almost five hour drive to the Georgia Guidestones, near Elberton, this past weekend with our good friends Holly and Scott, and their son Connor, and our children Kenzi and Tyrus.

It was a long drive, full of laughs, rain, cold, heat, many wrong turns, and lots of bathroom breaks but we finally arrived at our destination, which happened to be off the beaten path in the middle of nowhere.

We were awestruck by the extraordinary stones standing tall atop a Georgia hillside in the middle of beautiful farm country.

As I thought, we weren't the only ones visiting the Guidestones that day. As always, people were walking around feeling and reading the stones. Everyone seemed to be deep in thought, which I found very interesting.

Do the spirits of inmates walk the location of Kilby Prison.

Do the spirits of inmates walk the location of Kilby Prison.

All my years growing up in Montgomery, I never heard any ghost stories until recently about the old Kilby Prison. I remember as a kid traveling on Federal Drive I would look up and see this ominous place, almost looking like "Tara" from Gone with the Wind when Scarlet came home. Each time I would ask my mother to tell me about the place.

Those of us who grew up in Montgomery who are now in their 40s or older remember the location, I would think. The main building was torn down and there are some industrial places now in the old location.

One thing I've learned: just because the original structure is no longer there doesn't mean the spirit and the memory of the place are gone. To be honest, they are probably the same as if you believe in the multiverse. There are not many times when I pass by that spot that I don't think of the area and how I would really love to investigate those places.

They sometimes follow you home

They sometimes follow you home

As a paranormal researcher, I've encountered a lot of strange and unexplainable things throughout the years. There jave been times that I've thought I actually brought back a piece of what we investigated to our home, but this night was different.

We were investigating a private residence in Montgomery, and unlike what you see on t.v., to thoroughly investigate a private residence you really need to go multiple times with small teams and try different techniques each time.

There are a lot of times things intermingle that cause the activity, but this case was diferent. It was without a doubt an entity that was in this house and harrassing this family.
