Tomorrow, November 6th is election day and polls across Alabama will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Sample ballots are available online from the Alabama Secretary of State's website.  Click here and select your county to review the sample ballot for your county.

The League of Women Voters of Alabama has launched its nonpartisan election resource www.VOTE411.org, announced Kathryn Byrd, President of the LWVAL. This “one-stop-shop” for election information provides simple tools to help Alabama voters navigate the voting process this November.

Today is the last day to register to vote in November's election

Today is the final day to register to vote in the State of Alabama for November's election.  If you want to vote but haven't registered, head out to your county Board of Registrars by 5 p.m. today.

You can also mail in your voter registration.  Click here for the mail-in voter registration form that you can print, fill out, sign and mail to your local Board of Registrars.  If you mail your voter registration, it must be postmarked by 5 p.m. today.

Governor Bentley signs executive order establishing Alabama Medicare Advisory Commission

With the goal of reforming Medicaid by improving financial stability and patient care, Governor Robert Bentley on Thursday signed an executive order establishing the Alabama Medicaid Advisory Commission.

The Commission will be tasked with evaluating the financial structure of the Alabama Medicaid Agency and identifying ways to increase efficiency while also helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the agency.  The Commission will make recommendations to Governor Bentley prior to the 2013 Regular Session of the Alabama Legislature.

“We are committed to increasing efficiency, eliminating fraud and maintaining patient care,” Governor Bentley said.  “We believe we can deliver higher-quality care while also controlling costs.  The Alabama Medicaid Advisory Commission will help us accomplish this.”

ASU to Rally and Get Out The Vote

Hundreds are expected to take part Thursday in a rally to inform and encourage local voters to get to the polls on Nov. 6.

The event, dubbed Get Out The Vote Rally, is from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in front of ASU’s Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

The public is invited to the free event.

Participants will be entertained by a special performance from the ASU Drumline.

The event is sponsored by the Alabama State University College Democrats and the History and Political Science Department.

ASU’s Community wide Forum: The Election & You!

With the Nov. 6 election just around the corner, ASU is giving the community, students, faculty and staff a chance to get an in-depth look at the presidential candidates.

The informal forum is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Councill Hall, Room 221. Participants will discuss views, analyses and prognostications for what lies ahead and discuss the impact of the presidential election on you.  

The forum is sponsored by ASU’s Department of History and Political Science, Pi Sigma Alpha, the College of Democrats, and Students Taking Action Today Implementing Change.

MONTGOMERY –  Montgomery County Probate Judge Reese McKinney was joined Monday by Montgomery County Commissioner Ham Wilson, Montgomery County Circuit Clerk Florence Cauthen, Montgomery County Democratic Party Chair Dr. Tyna Davis and Montgomery County Republican Party Chair Pat Wilson to remind voters of the importance of preserving fair and honest elections in Montgomery County while also highlighting the forms of voter identification acceptable in Alabama for the General Election on November 6, 2012.      “In Alabama, 27 acceptable forms of voter identification can be used on an election day,” Judge McKinney said.
