Montgomery Firefighters Calendar on Sale Now | News

MONTGOMERY — Looking for a last-minute gift idea or a unique stocking stuffer to complete your holiday shopping? The Montgomery firefighters 2013 calendar — the first of its kind at Montgomery Fire/Rescue — may be just the thing for you. The calendar is hot off the presses and available for purchase now at fire stations throughout the city.

Fire Chief Miford Jordan said the calendar is a charitable and fund-raising initiative that focuses on firefighter fitness and the physical demands of firefighting. “The firefighter calendar is all in good fun, but underlying this project is our firefighters’ commitment to the Montgomery community and to providing the best possible fire services,” Jordan said.

Jordan said calendar proceeds will go to two local organizations, the Montgomery Area Food Bank and One Place Family Justice Center, along with funds for firehouse “extras” such as retirement plaques, the department’s Christmas luncheon and firehouse meals. The chief said the calendar is sponsored, so there’s no cost to Montgomery Fire/Rescue.

Approximately 35 firefighters volunteered to be featured in the calendar.  Fifteen firefighters were chosen to appear on individual pages, with other volunteers featured in group photos.
