Hazmat team responds to suspicious pkg. off Atl. Hwy.
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery Fire and Rescue and Hazmat Recon teams responded to a residence off of County Downs Rd. in Montgomery Tuesday afternoon after a resident said they found an unknown foaming substance in a liquor bottle outside their residence. Authorities say they're investigating the situation, adding that the substance are consistent with a combination of household chemicals and unknown items. The substance does not appear hazardous, according to officials. The resident found a liquor bottle with the an unknown substance bubbling out of it. The resident placed the bottle along with the mail on to the picnic table in his car port, went inside to wash his hands and contacted authorities. Hazmat set up in the area to send an entry team in to the home. The Postal Inspector was also called to the scene, and the Montgomery County EMA was also notified. Authorities are also investigating reports of a similar incident on Holly Ridge Rd. near Mont Vista in the same subdivision. There's no word on if the two incidents are connected.
