Judge McKinney reminds voters what acceptable identification can be used at polls in Nov. | News
MONTGOMERY – Montgomery County Probate Judge Reese McKinney was joined Monday by Montgomery County Commissioner Ham Wilson, Montgomery County Circuit Clerk Florence Cauthen, Montgomery County Democratic Party Chair Dr. Tyna Davis and Montgomery County Republican Party Chair Pat Wilson to remind voters of the importance of preserving fair and honest elections in Montgomery County while also highlighting the forms of voter identification acceptable in Alabama for the General Election on November 6, 2012.
“In Alabama, 27 acceptable forms of voter identification can be used on an election day,” Judge McKinney said. “Alabama does not have a photo identification requirement to vote. Let me say that again and be very clear, while you must present one of the 27 forms of voter identification to vote in Alabama, photo identification is not required.”
Judge McKinney continued to say rumors circulating in the Montgomery community have caused some confusion on the voter identification issue.
“While I understand there are strong opinions on both sides of the aisle regarding voter identification, I am here today with a bi-partisan group of elected officials and leaders from both parties to set the record straight and provide accurate information for the voters of Montgomery County,” Judge McKinney added. “By standing together to broadcast this important message, it is my hope that each voter will be informed and have a positive experience on Election Day.”
The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6th and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
