New ASU President marks first day in office
News

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- Alabama State University handed the reins over to its newest President today.

Dr. Joseph Silver, ASU's new President, had his first day in office today.

Silver is ASU's 13th President. He most recently served as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Clark Atlanta University.

The ASU Board selected Silver back in May after a year-long search by a 15-member presidential search committee.

Silver said today that he hopes to move Alabama State forward in the community.

"When you look at what's already here, there's a good foundation," said Dr. Silver. "But what I really want to convey to the students, to the community and to the business folks is that this is going to be the academic epicenter. We are going to be known for the graduates we produce."
