MPS sets registration dates for 2012-13 school year | News
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- Parents who need to register their child for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year will now have dedicated days and more convenient times to do so.
In an effort to simplify the registration process and make it more convenient for parents, MPS has set dates and moved registration times to the afternoon to accommodate working parents.
Middle school students can register Monday through Thursday, July 16-26 from noon to 5:30 p.m.
High school students can register Monday through Thursday, July 23- August 2 from noon to 5:30 p.m.
Elementary students can register Monday through Thursday, July 30- August 9 from noon to 5:30 p.m.
"We want to make the registration process easier for parents," said Superintendent Barbara Thompson. "In the past, parents would come to our schools during the summer months and they might have to wait to receive help because of the limited number of staff we have available," she said.
"Schools also had different times and dates for registration, which was confusing for parents with more than one child. Now, parents know they can come to the schools the same time each day from noon to 5:30 p.m. It gives them the flexibility of coming to school during their lunch hour, or after work and they know there will be someone there to help them. Plus, staggering the dates allows us to provide each school extra help with data entry."
In addition, all scheduled professional development activities that involve principals and school staff will be moved to the morning to lessen the likelihood of it interfering with registration.
"This gives principals time to complete their professional development and be back in their buildings to assist parents."
