MPD says Tuesday shootings were related | Crime
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - One man is behind bars charged with assault in connection with one of two shooting incidents in Montgomery on Tuesday. Police now say both of those shooting incidents were related.
Police were first called to the 3800 block of Williams Road around 10 a.m. Tuesday on the call of a subject shot. When they arrived they located an adult female who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The initial investigation indicated the woman was originally shot following an argument with a male friend at a residence in the 4600 block of Charles Street. She then drove herself to the home on Williams Road where she called for help.
Police were then called to the scene of a second shooting around 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Grove Street. Once on the scene, medics located an adult male who had sustained a minor gunshot wound. The victim of this shooting, 56-year-old Leonard Hendrix, was identified as the suspect in the earlier shooting incident. Following his release from the hospital, Hendrix was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
Hendrix was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he is being held on a $30,000 bond.
Authorities say the shooting on Grove Street was in retaliation for the earlier incident on Charles Street and Williams Road. At this time, no arrests have been made in the Grove Street shooting.
