MPD arrests multiple suspects in unrelated robberies, thefts | Crime

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Police Department has cleared two armed robberies and multiple motor vehicle thefts in the arrests of area teenagers.

MPD has charged Willie Abner, 16, of Wetumpka with two counts of first-degree robbery in connection with the robbery of pizza delivery drivers on Jan. 22 and Jan. 25. Detectives also charged James Rembert, 16, of Montgomery in connection with the Jan. 22 robbery.

Abner, who was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under bonds totaling $120,000. Following Rembert’s arrest, MPD transported him to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was being held under a $60,000 bond.

MPD responded to the first robbery at about 8 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the 200 block of Gardendale Drive, where the driver was robbed of personal property and pizza.

Three days later, at about 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 25, MPD responded to a second pizza delivery driver robbery in the 1800 block of Hill Hedge Lane, where the driver was robbed of personal property, including his vehicle, and pizzas.

MPD previously charged three additional suspects in connection with the Jan. 25 robbery. MPD arrested Reginald Jackson, 17, Demetrius Mack, 18, and Jaquon Washington, 18, on one charge each of first-degree robbery.

MPD detectives also have charged a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with multiple motor vehicle thefts. MPD detectives developed information that identified the suspect in connection with four auto thefts that occurred between October 2012 and January 2013. Detectives charged the juvenile with four counts of first-degree theft of property in connection with these thefts.

Because of ongoing investigations, MPD is not releasing mug shots of Abner and Rembert at this time.
