Montgomery man sentenced to life in prison for 2009 murder | Crime

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for a 2009 murder - the suspect was out on parole for a 2005 murder when then 2009 crime happened.

Adrian Stewart was convicted on December 19  on two counts of capital murder, one count of assault second degree and for being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the June 2009 shooting death of Cornelius Thomas.

Thomas who was 29 years old at the time of the crime, sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and died in the hospital nearly two months later due to his injuries.

A jury convicted Stewart after a week long trial in December 2012.

Stewart has now been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the two counts of capital murder. He also received an additional life in prison sentence for the assault and felon in possession of a gun charges.

All of Stewart's sentences are concurrent.
