Third person arrested in connection with New Year's Day murder | Crime
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department says a third person is now in custody in connection with the New Year's Day stabbing of 21-year-old Danny Stroud.
Authorities initially arrested two women, 24-year-old Amanda Stroud and 19-year-old Tari Snell and charged them with capital murder in connection with Stroud's death. Authorities say Amanda Stroud is the victim's sister and Tari Snell is the victim's ex-girlfriend.
Montgomery Police now say a third person, 36-year-old Rickey Jerome Padgett, has been charged with capital murder in the death of Danny Stroud.
Padgett was taken into custody late Tuesday evening in Andalusia on an unrelated charge. Padgett is currently being held in the Covington County Detention Facility without bond while awaiting extradition to Montgomery.
Authorities received a call to respond to the 2100 block of Powell Lane in Montgomery around 4:30 a.m. on New Year's Day. When they arrived they found Danny Stroud suffering from a single stab wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
MPD's initial investigation indicated that stabbing stemmed from an argument.
No additional information is available at this time.
Stroud is Montgomery's first homicide of 2013.
