MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Police say a man that died in a car crash Thursday night was shot before that crash. They've now labeled his death as Montgomery's 32nd homicide of 2012.

Montgomery Police say that police and fire medics responded to the scene of a traffic accident at 10:45 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 13, at the intersection of South Perry Street and Mt. Vernon Road.

Upon arrival, authorities located 35-year-old Jerome Dunklin who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Dunklin was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Further medical evaluation determined that Dunklin had sustained a gunshot wound which was determined to have been the cause of his death.

Dunklin has been classified as Montgomery's 32nd homicide of 2012.

MPD says it is pursuing active leads in this case - the investigation is ongoing. No additional information is available for release at this time.
