Former Montgomery Fire Fighter pleads guilty to electronic solicitation of a child | Crime
PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - A former Montgomery Fire Fighter and Elmore County youth sports coach pleaded guilty to electronic solicitation of a child Wednesday morning in an Autauga County court.
According to authorities, John Montague pleaded guilty this morning to two counts of electronic solicitation. Montague originally turned himself in to the Elmore County Sheriff's Office back in October of 2011 after he was charged with harassment in Elmore County for allegedly kissing a 13-year-old girl and sending her inappropriate text messages. Montague was charged with two counts of electronic solicitation in Autauga County a month later.
Documents state that police believe Montague used a cell phone to attempt to arrange meetings with a child under the age of 16 for sexual purposes at both Birmingham Southern University and Edgewood Academy back in September 2011.
Montague is scheduled to be sentenced on December 19. He faces anywhere from 2 to 20 years in prison for each count of solicitation.
