MPD makes arrests in city's 25th and 26th homicides | Crime
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department has made arrests in the city's 25th and 26th homicides of 2012.
On the evening of Thursday, October 11th, Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to a subject shot call at the 1900 block of Marie James Court. There, they located 24-year-old Bobby Jackson, who had sustained a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Jackson Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The initial investigation indicates that Jackson and 16-year-old Corey Hughes of Montgomery were playing dice, when they got involved in a verbal altercation that turned violent.
MPD arrested Hughes who turned himself in shortly after the shooting. Hughes was charged with one count of murder and was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he is being held under a $75,000 bond.
An unrelated incident occurred Friday, October 12th shortly after midnight. Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to the 2600 block of Gladlane in reference to a subject shot. There, police located a 17-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Baptist Medical Center South were he was later pronounced dead.
The initial investigation indicates that the shooting resulted from an argument over stolen property. No further information about this incident is available at this time.
MPD arrested 29-year-old Kervis Dennis of Montgomery on one count of murder. Dennis was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he is being held under at $75,000 bond.
