Man sentenced for fatal 2010 Lake Martin accident | Crime
LAKE MARTIN, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery man heard his sentence today for his part in a homicide by vessel that killed a woman in Lake Martin over the 2010 Labor Day Weekend.
An Elmore County Judge sentenced Brian Alan Little to five years in prison for the death of 26-year-old Ashley Anne Williams.
An official with the Elmore County District Attorney's office told WSFA 12 News reporter Bryan Henry that Little will ultimately only serve one year of his sentence in jail with three years probation.
Williams was killed after she fell off of a pontoon boat and was then run over by that same boat on Lake Martin during the 2010 Labor Day weekend. Little, the driver of the boat, swam ashore and fled the scene after the accident. Authorities said alcohol was a factor in that accident.
Little pleaded guilty to homicide by vessel, an unclassified felony, on June 25. Eight other people were on the boat at the time of the accident, they were not charged.
