MPD arrests robbery suspects

The Montgomery Police Department has arrested two local men in connection with multiple business robberies after police apprehended the suspects in an armed robbery that occurred Thursday night. MPD charged Albert Ford, 34, of Townsend Drive and Willie Larkins, 32, of Rigby Street with five counts each of first-degree robbery. Both were transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where each was being held under bonds totaling $300,000.

MPD made the arrests after responding to a report of a business robbery at approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of Wares Ferry Road. The business owner pursued the armed suspect on foot before the suspect got into a vehicle and was driven away. The victim provided responding officers with a description of the suspect and vehicle. Officers soon spotted the vehicle in a nearby neighborhood and apprehended both suspects. MPD recovered from the vehicle what officers believe to be proceeds from the robbery and the weapon used.

MPD’s subsequent investigation linked the two suspects to two additional armed robberies of area businesses that occurred May 27 in the 6600 block of the Atlanta Highway and in the 8800 block of Minnie Brown Road.

This investigation is continuing, and no additional information is available for public release.

Note:  A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendants are assumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
