Prattville man arrested following Montgomery hostage incident | Crime
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Prattville man is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility following an early-morning hostage situation off of Lower Wetumpka Road.
According to the Montgomery Police Department, 40-year-old David Spigner has been charged with second-degree kidnapping and two counts of menacing following an incident with his estranged wife.
Police say Spigner entered a business in the 3800 block of Lower Wetumpka Road where his estranged wife is employed around 7:40 a.m. Spigner was armed.
Spigner allowed other employees of the business to leave, but refused to allow his wife to exit the premises.
Police negotiators responded to the scene and negotiated Spigner's surrender. He exited the building at 8:58 a.m. with his hands in the air and was taken into custody unharmed.
Police officers then escorted the wife out of the business. She was also unharmed.
Due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation, no additional information is available at this time.
Spigner is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on $200,000 bond.
